Author Interview & Series Spotlight: Threads of Desire and Bounce by K.M. Jackson

Threads of Desire
by K.M. Jackson

About the Book:
Sexy fashionista Gabrielle Russell has been challenging Nick Ross most of his life and now is no exception. A top financial analyst, Nick has been dating his boss’s daughter and he’s on the fast track to turning his five-year marathon into a three-year sprint. But life throws him a curve when he finds his perfect girlfriend curled up in a very un-zen like position with her yoga instructor. Faced with this awkward downward dog, Nick heads to the only place he can think of - his brother Steve’s place - only to be stuck face to hips, thighs, lips, just about everything with his roommate, Gabby. She’s the habit Nick just can’t shake. The one that got away and she won’t let him forget it.
Gabrielle is frustrated. She’s been banging it out for years as a curvy girl trying to make her creative mark on the exclusive world of New York fashion and she’s hit a brick wall both personally and professionally. Now stuck in a dead end job designing jersey pantsuits for wannabe mafia wives while dodging the advances of her boss’s son, she doesn’t know how to get out of the hole she’s dug for herself. At least she has a bit of peace in the small apartment she shares with her childhood friend and roommate, Steve.
Or she did until Nick Ross - Mr. Perfection and her own devastation, the one who broke her heart and almost broke her spirit - walked in. And now he’s back and looking for a place to camp out while he gets his life back on track. Well, she’s got news for him: She’s not the same girl she was all those years ago when just a look would send her heart stuttering. Okay, maybe she is, but now maybe it’s time the tables were turned on the unflappable Nick Ross.

About the Book:
Growing up as a young girl, Sabrina Jacobs could only dream her life would be this good. She has a successful career, a famous sexy husband, two children, a house in an affluent Westchester suburb and a shoe collection worthy of a magazine spread. Too bad it’s all a façade.
It has been almost a year since her husband admitted he had an affair with a younger and bouncier coworker. Follow Sabrina as she tries to rein in her out-of-control life by kicking her husband out on his rear, chucking her career and even firing her too-cute-for-the-job nanny. But how will she survive as a stay-at-home mom in the land of designer clothes, designer kids’ parties and designer babies? Hmm… maybe the hunky young French teacher, who has been flirting shamelessly with Sabrina, is just what she needs to take her mind off her problems. Well, not if her husband has something to say about it. Will Sabrina be able to forgive and still be true to herself?

More Romance Please would like to extend a warm welcome to K.M. Jackson, author of Threads of Desire and Bounce.
K.M., first, please tell us who or what most influenced you to become a writer?
Thanks so much for having me here today on More Romance Please. I have loved romance since I was 12 and first picked up one of Grandmother’s Harlequin romances. Always being an “in my head” dreamer I think it was an inevitable thing that at some point these musings would find their way out. When I left the fashion world and became a stay at home mother, I took that as my chance.
2.   If you were to be left alone on an island, what three books would you take with you?
Really? It’s a good thing I only have 2 children with a choice like this. LOL. I guess I’d take the 3 biggest books I could find that would take me the longest to read until my rescue boat came along.
3.   If you could choose any man for your next book cover, who would he be?
This is a hard one. There are so many hot guy cover that sometimes they start to blend so in order to stand out you have to have a really good one. I’m in love with the non-guy cover of my book BOUNCE. The pristine bed left so much up the in imagination and really spoke to the storyline.
But that said I’m not putting down the lure of a handsome face or a darned good chest. I also adore the cover of my latest book in my Crimson series: THREADS OF DESIRE. You can’t deny those abs. And if I could have my dream male cover or covers it would be a three part series with part 1: Idris Elba, part 2: Leonardo DiCaprio and part 3: Joe Manganiello. Hello! Instant best sellers! LOL
4.   When you are on a deadline, what aspect of your ‘regular’ life suffers most?
Hands down cooking and housework but if you ask my family I was never winning any Domestic Goddess of the year awards anyway.
5.   What advice would you give aspiring authors?
I would tell the aspiring writer to not give up. The tale of my “overnight success” took over ten years. I say keep writing and working on your craft. It’s true that no writing is wasted writing. Over time you change and get better. Join critique groups. Take classes and read, read, read!
6.   What advice would you give seasoned writers?
The advice is similar to the aspiring writer. Continue to work on your craft too. I think I get better with every book and I know for myself I still have so much more room to grow. Take classes, read and work on your craft. I love it when I read a book by an amazing author. It’s always inspiring to me.
7.   When reading for pleasure, do you prefer a physical or electronic book?
I am a huge paper book fan and never thought I’d love e-books as much as I do but I have since come to learn that there is nothing like having so many books right at your fingertips especially when you are out and on the road. I have come to adore my Kindle Paperwhite.
8.   Did you ever feel like calling it quits?
Oh gosh more times than I care to count and I could smile and pretend to be all confident on your blog here today, but I’m not that type of person. I’m a writer, an artist, a person who spends a better part of her life putting emotion on the page. Now four books published but that really doesn’t matter all that much. The morning still comes and I faire up my laptop and face the blank page with the same doubts as the first day. It just is what it is. So the thought of quitting is always there, but thankfully so are the new ideas and they are much stronger than the thoughts of giving up.
Thanks so much for having me on More Romance Please. I really enjoyed being here it was a great treat. And yes… MORE ROMANCE PLEASE!

Thank you so much for joining us today, K.M. We really enjoyed the insights. Good luck with Threads of Desire and Bounce

  3. Excellent advice for aspiring and seasoned authors, K.M. I wish you much success with both of your novels. Isn't it interesting to be a "hybrid" author?

  5. Now with ebooks everyone thinks that can take so many, not thinking about battery death.
That's why I am liking anthologies more and more.

  6. Great interview, ladies! I have shifted my allegiance from paper books to ebooks as well. I always dreaded the moment when I read the last page of a book and didn't have another. Now I just download one and ...presto...I'm reading in minutes! Love your books, Kwana and good luck with Threads.
